They’re My Bewbies and I’ll Cry If I Want To

This greeted me when I got home this evening:
It’s hard to even type that. This event has meant so much to me over the past 5 years that I’ve been coordinating it and so much to Robyn who started it. The internet has changed so much since 2002, when you knew everyone in the blogging community and when you told someone about your blog, they looked at you all funny and said “What’s a blog?”. Now, blogging and tweeting and facebooking is everywhere, in every corner of our lives. And while we’ve had an amazing ride these past 10 years, both Robyn and myself feel like it’s time to retire the Blogger Boobie-Thon.
*sob*
I’ve been a proud participant of the annual Boobie-Thon for the past 9 years. It’s been exhilarating and freeing and scary and empowering. I’ve met friends and fielded anonymous stalkers and felt incredibly proud as my girls help raise a ridiculous amount of money not only for Breast Cancer research, but the Bloggers in Need, the annual gift to a deserving blogger awarded at the start of every Boobie-Thon.
I will miss coming up with fun pics and the uptick in blog traffic as Sneaky Petes try to determine which of the proud girls belong to me.
Thank you Melissa and Robyn and all of the volunteers who tallied and cropped and positioned, and thanks to all of the men and women willing to bare because they cared! I will miss this annual exhibitionism for charity.
So look, folks – now is the time in these final days. We have until 11:59pm October 7, 2011 EST to get in our pics and our money, and show our love for our beautiful hosts these last ten years.
